New collaboration with KPMG takes Impero to Canada

Using Danish software, it will be easier for Canadian companies to keep track of their governance, risk management, and compliance. KPMG in Canada, one of the world’s leading professional services firms  has joined forces with Danish SaaS company Impero. Moving forward, KPMG will offer their clients Impero’s compliance management platform.

The Danish software-as-a-service company, Impero, which developed a platform to automate risk and control management, is now entering the Canadian market. Through a collaboration with KPMG, Canadian companies and organizations will be offered the Impero platform to help automate and optimize their governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC).

For several years, Impero has had a relationship with various KPMG member firms affiliated with KPMG International, which comprise one of the world’s leading professional services firms offering audit, tax, and advisory services.

“It is expensive for companies that do not live up to compliance requirements both in terms of financial resources and potential reputational damage. These demands are increasing because we, society as a whole and its citizens, are placing more emphasis on transparency and accountability. This of course means that it is only becoming more important to keep track of compliance related issues, and we are very pleased that we can help Canadian companies with this in collaboration with KPMG in Canada,” Impero CEO Rikke Stampe Skov says about the importance of the relationship.

The Canadian market has great potential for Impero which aligns with the company’s strategic internationalization, following its successful listing on the Danish stock exchange. Impero’s focus will primarily be on Northwestern Europe, however, this agreement now also allows Impero to further penetrate the North American market.

Meeting increasing demands

KPMG in Canada will add the Impero platform to its offering in order to provide its clients with an agile and scalable solution to their compliance needs, with particular focus on tax and finance compliance. Initially, the professional services firm will add Impero to its tax transformations program in which KPMG will help to optimize companies’ compliance to meet the increasing demands from local and international regulations. Currently Impero has established relationships with various KPMG member firms, including Denmark, Germany, and United Kingdom and works closely with several other member firms.

KPMG in Canada looks forward to the collaboration with Impero: “We are always very concerned with striving to ensure our clients receive the best advisory services and with delivering the solution that is most suitable for their complex needs. We are experiencing an increasing need to optimize companies’ internal processes within tax and finance and strengthen the focus on GRC, and therefore Impero’s intuitive and scalable solution is a good match for KPMG in Canada and our clients,” says Gino Piazza, Partner, National Service Line Leader – Tax Transformation and Technology with KPMG Canada about the agreement with Impero.

Underlining the importance of successful relationships CEO Rikke Stampe Skov says: “Our relationships are unique and help pave the way to the largest international conglomerates. We are very pleased to begin a close collaboration with KPMG in Canada and to be able to offer our compliance management platform to the Canadian market.”
